Installation on Fedora/RHEL¶
Installation on both Fedora (any version >= 12) and RHEL-5 should be mostly standard. Just run
yum install spectrum
However, if you have RHEL-5 Server, then you need also enable the
RHEL Optional Productivity Apps channel in order to get libpurple, and EPEL is where spectrum resides.
Of course, as with any other package, in case of bugs, the standard instructions apply. Particularly for crashes, debuginfo-install spectrum installs -debuginfo packages required for crash analysis (more information is available).
There is no support for spectrum on RHEL < 5 and so far nobody managed to build spectrum there, the available packages are just too old to make it reasonable.
